Jerry Bowerman Founder and CEO
Jerry has had an extremely versatile career, spanning investment banking to gaming to technology startups. He has (co)founded 7 companies, ranging from publicly traded companies to lean startups, over the course of his career. He previously served as VP of EA Games Canada and was on the board of Lucasfilm and adviser to George Lucas. Jerry was also Executive Vice President of Sierra Online, working with Ken Williams to successfully lead a turnaround of a company that had been losing $12 million per year and transforming it into a profitable entity that was for sold $1 billion just 4 years later. Currently he serves as an Executive Board member at the University of Texas Game Development Program.
Adrian Penn VP of Product
Adrian has spent his career with the mission of bridging the gap between design and engineering. While earning fine arts degrees at Iowa State University, he fell in with a group of engineers doing early computer animation research and was hooked. He became the Senior Project Manager at Engineering Animation, Inc. and by the mid-90s his work widely distributed and had receive several awards, including an ASIFA nomination for “Best Individual Achievement in Production Design in the Field of Animation”. He moved onto designing graphically-rich software of all sorts and served as Director of Production Gamed at Human Code and Director of Development at Milkshake Media. Adrian then begun to get the entrepreneurial itch and co-founded Mock Science. When Challenge Games acquired Mock Science, Adrian became VP of Creative Services, and when Zynga acquired Challenge Games he became an Executive Producer and played a huge role in the success of a range of products. He joined sonarDesign in 2013 as the VP of Product to build a platform and services to help people tell their stories on the Modern Web.
Matthew Sanders Head of Technology
Matt has been in software for over a decade working on PCs, Consoles, mobile, web, server side technologies, kernel drivers, and embedded devices. At sonarDesign Matt is responsible for the core systems that power the Sonar platform. Matt served as a Software Architect for Chaotic Moon in charge of multiple teams on projects ranging from cross platform games to embedded prototypes for clients including Dell, AMD, Intel, BB&T, IGT, Caesars Palace, and more. Matt was instrumental in Zynga Austin's early mobile application development, starting the first cocos2d-x project. Earlier in his career, Matt led teams and developed software including over 10 shipped titles for Heatwave Interactive, Edge of Reality, Aspyr Media, Vigil Games, and National Instruments. Matt is also a passionate hobbyist who spends time writing music, 3D modeling and printing, woodworking, and experimenting with electronics.
Jim Loecke Lead Architect
Jim has broad experience designing and developing software applications and games for mobile and online platforms as well as PCs and consoles. He has been involved in building the Sonar platform from the ground up as employee #1, designing the platform libraries as well as using them to implement the app builder tool using DART. At Zynga, Jim's bones-based rendering system was adopted by other teams due to its superior rendering and more efficient use of memory. He has also worked on both server and client sides for Challenge Games, Mock Science, Amaze Entertainment, and Human Code. In his free time, Jim loves to bike and enjoy the outdoors.
